Swan Hill region attractions
Swan Hill is the heart of the unique Murray-Mallee region. The town is superbly located on a free flowing section of Australia’s famous Murray River and is well known for its easy going lifestyle and year round sunshine.
Swan Hill’s specific attractions include the historic Pioneer Settlement, the renowned Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery and Murray Downs homestead and golf course resort.
Nearby is the lake side town of Lake Boga with attractions including the Flying Boat Museum, exhibiting Lake Boga’s involvement in the War as a Catalina base.
Swan Hill and its region are perhaps best known, however, for the variety and quality of food and wines. There are numerous wineries close to the town, some of which are represented on the wine list at Spoons Riverside.
The Olson pheasant farm, the largest game bird farm in Australia, is on the Chillingollah Road ten minutes out of Swan Hill, and is open to visitors, who are able to purchase produce from the farm shop. Farm shops also operate at Sonré Farms (olive oil and pistachios) and Andrew Peace (Murray Cod).
