Food and wine
The approach to food and wine at Spoons Riverside is to showcase the best in seasonal, local produce complemented by individually selected regional wines.
The Murray-Mallee region is a rich source of a range of flavoursome ingredients. From its traditional base of supplying vine and stone fruits the area has more recently become known for the quality of its olives and olive oil, nuts, vegetables and game birds.
The focus on fresh, seasonal, local produce is reflected in the dinner menu which changes with the Earth’s seasons.
In Spring we emphasise renewal, featuring ingredients such as Spring lamb, asparagus and new season almonds. In Summer the focus turns to fish such as Murray Cod, stone fruit, grapes, melons and salad items while in Autumn we enjoy newly harvested olives and local game birds. Winter sees the emphasis shift to hearty, comfort food using a variety of local meats, including pork, beef and duck.
The wine list at Spoons has been created around wines from the Murray Darling and surrounding areas, which have been individually chosen to enhance the inspired seasonal menus. Bendigo and Macedon Ranges wines, made by a number of leading winemakers, are especially featured, representing some of Victoria’s most interesting and innovative wine styles.
